The judges for 2016 site tests are now scheduled. DSATS judges will travel to each of the universities to meet the student teams and watch them demonstrate the operation of their rig. Each visit will begin with a short presentation by the student team showing their final design and what factors influenced their design decisions. Judges will ask questions to see how well each team understands the engineering problems and how their equipment and control algorithms handle various drilling scenarios. Next, everyone moves to the lab to see the rig in action. After drilling to a specified depth, the inclination of the well bore will be surveyed.
