If you are attending the SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition in Dubai, then plan on registering and attending the SPE Drilling Systems Automation Technical Section (DSATS) Symposium on the afternoon of the day before the conference starting at 13:00 until 17:00 followed by a reception. The half-day symposium will focus on keynote presentations on Urban Automation.
West Virginia University, the 2017 winner of the SPE DSATS Drillbotics competition, will present on their fully automated drilling rig, which really impressed the Drillbotics judges!
The symposium will explore technologies being used in developing smart cities through the automation of their infrastructure, transportation systems, energy distribution, water systems, street lighting, refuse collection, and so on. These efforts rely on many of the same tools needed for drilling systems automation, yielding increased efficiencies, lower maintenance and reduced emissions. The knowledge and experience of these companies can guide the path being traveled by the oilfield drilling industry.
Speakers include:
Asif Lakdawala, Principal Industry Consultant, Global SAS Process Sensor Smart & IOT
on Smart Applications and the Analytics of Things
Paul Mair, Account Manager, ABB AB, Sweden
on Automation from Ship to Gate — The Operator’s New Role
Erdem Soyal, General Manager Lighting, GE Middle East, Africa and Turkey
on Smart Cities with a focus on Smart Lighting.
